I feel I should say something about making it to #2000.
When I hit the 1000th strip back in 2007 (?) it was a big deal. It was a culmination of a year-long countdown, with multiple pieces coming together. Less so for this strip. I thought about making a Big Deal of a it, but then I thought that the professional thing to do is to just do my job and make a comic. Because, really, there is a 2001. And 2002. And all that.
I think webcomics tend to make a big deal out of numbers because it’s a side-gig for so many. And that’s cool for them. But, when I look at Charles Schulz who did 50 years of strips, all I think is that 2000 is just two hardcovers out of 25.
